Fight a No-Insurance Ticket

April 12th, 2010 · No Comments

It’s an undeniable and unavoidable situation; if you drive, you need car insurance. Although this might be wonderful news for insurance companies, it is the exact opposite for your ‘Average Joe’ who is working two jobs just to make ends meet. It’s another necessary expense that some people cannot afford which forces them to drive without it. Some people make this costly mistake when they decide to drive without car insurance so here are 5 tips to fight your no-insurance ticket if it ever happens to you.

1. Get car insurance. Well no duh! You wouldn’t be reading this article if you had it right? If you are able to purchase car insurance and have it available on the day of your court date, then it’s a strong possibility that the prosecutor will drop the charges.

2. Keep your insurance card in your vehicle. It’s a very simple task that requires no effort and will help you avoid a lot of trouble if you’re ever pulled over. Even if you have valid insurance but no card to show the cop, you can still receive a ticket. Save yourself the hassle and always have it available.

3. Get in contact with an insurance company or your insurance broker immediately. Picture this scenario; you have no insurance and see blue and red lights accompanied by blaring sirens in your rear view mirror. What do you do? Call an insurance provider right away and pray that they can get you set up right over the phone and have you validated. It’s a bit on the sketchy side but it will save you days of grief.

4. Be honest. A few years ago, a friend of mine lied to the police officer who pulled him over that he had car insurance by showing him a card that expired at the end of the year. Unfortunately for him, he had only paid for two months insurance and it was invalid. The officer checked his system only to find the truth and let’s just say it wasn’t a happy ending for him. Be honest and who knows, you may find yourself with just a warning.

5. Get help. If all else fails, call the professionals. XCopper will help you fight traffic tickets and save you thousands of dollars in the process. With their help, you can look forward to possibly having your ticket being dropped and at the very least, they will do everything they can to ensure your license is not revoked.
